The origins of a separate press and public relations function within the Arts Council appear to be in the Personnel and Administration Department which was formed in 1979/80.
In 1985/86 the Marketing and Resources Department was formed and took over responsibility for the communications unit and the press office from the Personnel and Administration Department. Then in 1991/92 a further restructuring took place and responsibility for the Press Office and the Public Relations Unit was transferred to the newly formed External Relations Department.
This series contains files relating to Arts Council publications and public and media relations. It includes the papers of: Barry Jackson, Public Relations Officer; Sue Rose, Senior Press Officer and Perdita Hunt, Director of External Relations.
