Comprising an introduction to the Library and a brief insight into the formation of its collections, The Art of the Book provides a visual feast of the treasures stored within the covers of books, not to mention the splendours of some of the covers themselves. The necessarily small selection of books is placed in context, and their importance in the history of publishing and book production simply explained.

To celebrate the publication of The Art of the Book, this display shows a selection of the works described within. The books chosen represent as many of the different facets of the Library’s collections as is possible in the space available.
