Conference: The third Sackler arts education conference will explore issues surrounding 'residencies' in which artists to explore and expand practice within the context of public participation.

This conference is the third in the series of Sackler arts education conferences, which explore aspects of arts and cultural education in the context of museums, galleries and related organisations. It will bring together artists, makers, residents, researchers, curators, historians, educators and interested members of the public.

Papers will engage with the following conference themes:

Day 1: Philosophy and Policy
Why do a wide variety of cultural organisations invite residents to contribute to public arts initiatives?
Drinks Reception

Day 2: Public engagement and participation
How do contemporary practitioners contribute to inspiring visitors and do residencies enable artists to develop their own skills and practice ?
Conference Dinner

Day 3: Responding to the collections
What are the benefits of residencies in museums and galleries for the artist, the host institution and the public?
