COURSE: Join this study day to discover a decade of clean streamlined shapes, modernist patterns, ocean liners and tubular steel. Examine the influence of historic designs, including mock Tudor and neo-Georgian, and the legacy of Art Deco on Thirties style. 10.30-17.00

Expert speakers will introduce you to the work of innovative designers including Marcel Breuer, Alvar Aalto and Gerrit Reitveld and discuss commercial designs for suburban interiors, fashion and textiles. Speakers include David Heathcote, Christine Boydell and Christine Lalumia. This seminar is the second in the V&A’s new Designing the Decades series.
