FAMILY EVENT: Celebrate the display and 150th anniversary of the birth of Rabindranath Tagore with a day of free family events and activities. Take part in practical workshops, see a Henna demonstration and listen to a storytelling session. All events are supported by the Nehru Centre.

Painted portraits

Make a painting of Tagore's portrait inspired by his pictures, poems, and quotations.
Henna demonstrations
11.00 – 11.45, 13.00 – 13.45 & 15.00 – 15.45
Watch Ameeta Critchlow demonstrate red henna designs based on traditional Bengali and Tagore’s designs.
Song and dance workshop

Take part in or watch a song & dance workshop involving the teaching of Tagore's songs based on western tunes and basic dance steps.
Storytelling

For Tagore, stories were the best form of travel. He could sit on cold wet days in the city but actually be exploring forests, mountains and oceans. Storyteller Seema Anand takes you on a journey to fantastical and far away places – a look at Tagore's world through Tagore's stories.
Rhythms of Life
16.00 – 16.45
A selection of songs, dance and poetry, including songs and poems written by Tagore, celebrate Nature, the changing seasons and the rhythm of life that connects human life to the larger universe. Performed by Baithak, UK.
