SHORT COURSE: Explore the art, ideas, and lives of Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Morris and other artists associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.
Young, rebellious, and idealistic, the Pre-Raphaelites revolutionised Victorian art. They turned their backs on Victorian sentimentality and morality and championed the realistic depiction of nature and subjects depicting modern life, poetry and the fulfilment 0f love. This course embraces the main artists, models, and writers involved with Pre-Raphaelitism, and examines paintings, textiles, and furniture, with a particular focus on examples in the V&A.
