Fleet Street is generally known as the “Street of Ink” or “The Street of Shame”, due to its associations with the newspaper industry and the nearby Inns of Court. The area is also linked to the Knights Templar, the first printers and booksellers, the Elizabethan theatre and the infamous Sweeney Todd, as well as many literary giants, including Johnson, Goldsmith, Dickens, Richardson and Defoe.
Guide Molly Rumbelow will take Members on a fascinating tour of the street and its narrow courts and alleyways, finishing at the beautiful St Bride’s Church.
