Salisbury Cathedral and Wilton House
- What:Membership Events
With its spire reaching 123 metres in height (the tallest medieval structure in the world) and its impressive cloister, Salisbury Cathedral is one of the finest cathedrals in the country. Members will be led on an art and architectural tour of this wonderful building before enjoying lunch in the cathedral restaurant. Members will then visit Wilton House in the afternoon.
Situated on the site of a ninth-century nursery founded by King Alfred and later in the twelfth century a Benedictine monastery, Wilton House is now home to the Earl and Countess of Pembrokeshire. The house hosts an array of splendid rooms, in particular the Single and Double Cube Rooms that are recognised as among the grandest rooms of this period.
