Exploring 1960s Musicland: David Bowie's Soho
- What:Membership Events
In 1963, aged sixteen, David Jones (Bowie to be) left school in Bromley and began commuting to the West End to work in an advertising agency.
For six years, until his breakthrough with Space Oddity in 1969, he hung out in Soho writing songs, cutting records and playing gigs. This walk will explore the clubs, studios, music publishers, cafés and psychogeography of where Bowie spent much of these formative years.
