Built by impresario Richard D’Oyly Carte with the profits from his Gilbert and Sullivan operas, The Savoy opened in 1889 and was Britain’s first luxury hotel.
It is the only hotel to have an archive large enough to justify having a professional archivist, Susan Scott. Join Susan as she discusses the history of this renowned establishment.
