Shakespeare in Performance
- Where:Seminar Room One, Sackler Centre
4 WEEK SHORT COURSE: Shakespeare is, without doubt, the most produced playwright in British Theatre. His plays form the cornerstone of the classical repertoire. This course will look at how Shakespeare’s plays have survived onstage.
It will explore important productions from the past and will also address the questions about how we perform the plays today as well as the challenges they present for actors and audiences from the perspective of a working actor. We will look at the four Shakespearean genre: History, Comedies, Tragedies and the Late Plays. There will be sessions looking at the performance history and actor Andrew Javis will explore the text from the perspective of the performer.
