FREE TALK: Vauxhall Gardens was one of the most popular destinations in 18th century London.
Featuring musical entertainments, supper parties, and displays of fine contemporary paintings, they attracted a fashionable clientele that regularly included the Prince of Wales, aristocrats and wealthy merchants. An evening visit might include listening to music by Handel, refreshments in one of the elaborate supper-boxes and a walk around the gardens gazing at the fine company. This talk explores the history and art associated with Vauxhall Gardens.
