Ancient Egypt in the V&A
- What:Members' Week
- Where:Members' Desk
Egyptomania has had a strong influence on art and design in Europe which continues to this day.
Join V&A guide Margaret Raffin as she uncovers the artefacts in the V&A which were bought from or donated by archaeologists and travellers of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, including Sir Flinders Petrie. While not as extensive as the British Museum and Petrie Museum collections, the objects in the V&A are unique, in particular the WAS sceptre, a rare and spectacular survivor.
