DISPLAY: Part of the Brits Who Built the Modern World season. This display is the first part of a major exhibition organised by the Royal Institute of British Architects. Through drawings, watercolours, photographs and models it examines where, why and how British architects built internationally, both inside and outside the Empire.

The remaining sections of the exhibition, bringing the story of British architecture abroad up-to-date, opens in February 2014 at the RIBA, 66 Portland Place, London W1.

The exhibition is staged in partnership with the BBC documentary series, The Brits Who Built the Modern World.

Displays complement our permanent collections, there are many free temporary displays around the V&A. They range in size from a single case to a room.
