Introducing Art Nouveau
- Where:Hochhauser Auditorium, Sackler Centre
STUDY DAY: Art Nouveau was the first international decorative style of the modern age.
The “new art” took many forms and the trademark whiplash line represented a radical break with traditional styles.
Key works included the architecture of Victor Horta, the posters of Alphonse Mucha, the drawings of Aubrey Beardsley, the furniture of Louis Majorelle, and the department stores of Tiffany and Sigfried Bing.
This day explores the main designers associated with the style.
