FAMILY EVENT: Join the performance team for fun and interactive gallery plays and activities. Events rotate each week – please see below for details. Suitable for all the family including early years unless otherwise stated (programmes for ages 2+ also available first Saturday of every month).

Saturday 9 August: Clara Button and the magical journey
Choose a hat to wear and join Clara Button on a magical journey around the Museum.
Location: Level 1, Sculpture Room 21a, and then promenade around the galleries

Saturday 16 August: William Kent
Meet William Kent – a famous 18th-century designer of houses and gardens and lover of good food. Please note this performance moves around the Museum.
Location: Level 1, The John Madejski Garden in fine weather, or Sculpture, Room 22, then Fashion.
The 16 August event is BSL interpreted, supported by Lord Leonard and Lady Estelle Wolfson Foundation

Saturdays 23 and 30 August: Curious Crafts and Mythical Models
Step back in time to the days of Queen Victoria when William Morris and his friends were causing a storm in the Art World.
Location: Level 3, Paintings, Room 81

Saturday 6 September: Peter Rabbit and Friends
Enter the world of Beatrix Potter in a new puppet show from No Nonsense Theatre Company.
Location: Level 3, Paintings, Room 87

Saturdays 13, 20 and 27 September: Rock, Pop and Charming
Dress up and dance! Celebrate the role of costume design in the 1980’s music scene in this fun costume and drama workshop.
Location: Level 3, Theatre & Performance, Room 106
13 and 20 September are part of London Design Festival.

Saturday 4 October: How the mice got rid of the cats
Join us for an interactive, storytelling performance of a traditional tale from the Middle East about princes, carpet merchants, cats and some very clever mice.
Especially for early years, supported by Outset Family.
Location: Level 1, Islamic Middle East, Room 42

Saturday 25 October - Sunday 2 November October: Half-Term Programme
Take part in an atmospheric story/poetry-making performance inspired by Constable’s countryside scenes. Step through the picture frame and into the painting, listen to the clash of thunder, the wind in the trees, smell flowers in the meadow and be transported into the English countryside.

Celebrate Diwali with a beautiful interactive dance performance from Prakruti Dance.

Christmas & New Year Programme
Discover the enchanting world of The Nutcracker ballet this Christmas with dance performances and interactive workshops. Meet the Sugar Plum Fairy, gingerbread soldiers and the Mouse King. Become principal dancers at the Museum, inspired by characters from the story.
