FAMILY EVENT: Pick up a design challenge and bring your own fantastic ideas to life.

On selected days, create architectural drawings with professionals from Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners or join the Drop-in Design team to make your own puppet horse, inspired by the National Theatre’s production of War Horse.

Sundays, 10.30 – 17.00

Sunday 10 & 17 August
Architectural Drawing
Create architectural drawings with staff from Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners.
Location: The John Madejski Garden in fine weather or Sculpture, Room 24

Sunday 24 August (and bank holiday weekend)
The Imagination Station
Record your family’s journey across the Museum and add it to a sculptural column. Activity designed by Exhibition Road Drawing Resident Liam O’Connor.
Location: The John Madejski Garden in fine weather or Level 2, Medieval and Renaissance, Room 64b

Sunday 31 August
War Horse Puppetry
Make your own puppet horse and learn how bring it to life using a puppet design created by the original puppeteer of Joey the horse, inspired by the National Theatre’s production of War Horse.

Sunday 7 September
Drawing with Wire
Try our new activity – look closely at an object and draw its form in wire to create a 3D sculpture.

Sunday 14 & 21 September
Incredible Inventions
Become inspired by the museum’s weird and wonderful inventions, from Glove Stretchers to Moustache Spoons, then design and make a prototype of your own incredible invention.
Part of London Design Festival.

Digital Design Weekend
Take part in a range of digital activities across the museum, for all the family.

Drawing with Wire
Look closely at an object and draw its form in wire to create a 3D sculpture.

Sunday 12 October
Design a Magical Hat – Big Draw 2014
The V&A is full of wonderful things, including lots of hats. In the book 'Clara Button and the Magical Hat Day', Clara and her family visit the Museum for a special day out. Design your own magical hat inspired by the V&A.

Sunday 19 October
Angels and Knights
Illustrate your own Tudor angel or knight and give your sculpture wings and personality by writing a story to go along with your creation. Inspired by the Wolsey Angels campaign.

Saturday 25 October - Sunday 2 November:
October Half-Term Programme
Join us for a half-term full of activities inspired by the exhibition ‘Constable: the Making of a Master’. Create your own weather mobile, learn about landscape techniques in our Make-it: Painting workshop or join in with a story/poetry-making session and enter the world of Constable’s countryside scenes.

Sunday 9 November
Dazzling Rangoli
Search the Museum for bold patterns to create your very own Rangoli design small enough to take home, inspired by Diwali celebrations.

Sunday 16 November
Lively Letters
Search the Museum for unusual letters - you will find them on lots of surfaces including glass, tapestry, ceramics and marble, as well as in old hand-written books. Then create your own marvellous monogram masterpiece.

Sunday 23 & 30 November
Project photo
Create your own photographic film reel on acetate inspired by the Museum’s photographic collection. Learn about the photographic process and then project your image onto a screen.

Museum Migrations: connecting cultures
Be part of an art installation creating connections between different objects from the Museum’s collection.

Outrageous Outfits
Search the Museum for unique accessories. Look for interesting shapes, lines, colours and design an accessory to make your outfit more outrageous for a party at the V&A.

Saturday 27 December – Sunday 4 January 2015:
Christmas & New Year Programme
Come and be inspired by the magical and surreal world of turn-of-the-century Russian theatrical design this Christmas. Help create and contribute to a large scale cardboard theatre set and watch and take part in dance performances and workshops using elements of the ballet, The Nutcracker.
