Cartier is celebrating the jewelled creatures of the Panthere de Cartier collection. Since 1914, the company has sculpted these precious beasts in the finest of detail.
What started as an abstract motif quickly grew into a complete animal nurtured by Jeanne Toussaint, the Director of Jewellery, with the powerful but graceful feline being worn by fashionable society, from the Duchess of Windsor to Maria Felix and Daisy Fellowes. The panther has since become the emblem of Cartier, an icon that remains true to this day. Pierre Rainero Cartier's Director of Image, Style and Heritage, is in conversation with jewellery historian Vivienne Becker.
