Hilary Mantel: Wolf Hall & the Wolsey Angels
- What:Membership Events
- Where:The Lydia & Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre
Coinciding with the V&A's fundraising campaign for the Wolsey Angels, Hilary Mantel will discuss her Man Booker Prize-winning novel Wolf Hall, which brings the opulent, brutal world of the Tudors to life.
Cardinal Wolsey's inability to resolve Henry VIII's ruthless quest to annul his marriage leads to his destruction, and Thomas Cromwell's rise to power, in this intriguing fictional account. The Wolsey Angels are four real-life sculptures that were commissioned by Cardinal Wolsey and seized by Henry VIII after his death. The V&A has launched a campaign to unite them as part of the National Collection of Sculpture.
