Scope and Content
Album of sketches of women's fashions (1906 - 1907); sketches of women's fashions annotated with dates, dress details and locations (1906 - 1957). There are no sketches dating from 1942 - 1945.
Administrative and Biographical History
Cuthbert Grasemann was a public relations officer for Southern Railway. He was also a keen amateur artist who enjoyed sketching fashionable women's costume in Brussels, Paris and London. He annotated his work with detailed descriptions of the costume and socio-cultural reasons for changes in dress such as the influence of the theatre.
