To celebrate the opening of our new gallery Design 1900 – Now, showcasing 20th-century design icons and 21st-century design innovations, we have teamed up with design company Vitra, publishers Thames & Hudson and the V&A Academy to put together a fantastic bundle of design-themed prizes.
We are offering one lucky winner the chance to take home a Vitra Tip Ton RE chair, designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby. Made from recycled plastic, the Vitra Tip Ton RE chair has a forward-tilt action which straightens the pelvis and spine, improving circulation to the abdominal and back muscles.
The winner will also receive a set of five beautifully illustrated design books from Thames & Hudson that explore the key developments, movements and practitioners of modern design from around the world:
- Japanese Design Since 1945: A Complete Sourcebook by Naomi Pollock & Masaaki Kanai
- Design: The Whole Story by Elizabeth Wilhide
- Home Computers: 100 Icons that Defined a Digital Generation by Alex Wiltshire & John Short
- Modernist Design Complete by Dominic Bradbury
- Radical Matter: Rethinking Materials for a Sustainable Future by Kate Franklin & Caroline Till
Three runners-up will win a place on a six-week, online V&A Academy autumn course: Art, Design and Society: 1900 – Now. This course will take you through the most influential movements and individuals engaged with the decorative arts and design during this complex and fascinating period. Online V&A Academy courses allow you to join live sessions, hear expert speakers and meet like-minded peers, as well as back-watch sessions and access additional course resources.
A further three runners-up will win a choice of two books from the ultimate Thames & Hudson reading list, as recommended by the curators of the Design 1900 – Now gallery and selected from the wide range of design themed publications available.
