For my MA I developed illustrations alongside a short fictional narrative in which the main character slips between past and present. I wanted to focus on simplification and absence, presenting the elemental, and eliminating unnecessary details. These landscapes are intended to illustrate parts of the narrative that the text hints at but does not allow the reader to fully access. In July I travelled to Kerry in Ireland to visit the Skelligs. It is here, and along the surrounding coastline, that I produced the majority of the landscapes for my final project.
