Bed blockers are people who are well enough to go home, but still in hospital. Patients are forced to endure long stay in hospital-they wait an average 28.5 days- because of delayed discharges. Rising numbers of NHS patients are becoming so fed up with their hospital care that they are discharging themselves against medical advice. Bed blockers do not want hospital beds anymore.
The illustration describes an old lady with exaggerated body movements. She is very healthy but stuck in hospital all day. She feels very bored with just lying in bed.
