The Unreliable Narrator

The Unreliable Narrator

I was commissioned to create illustrations for Beneficial Shock! magazine, which "aims to use illustration, visual documentation and design in humourous and irreverant ways to expressively interpret film related content", for a series of films known for utilising an unreliable narrator in their storytelling. We wanted the images to embody the approach in each film as to how their narrators were unreliable and to describe the consequent effect on the validity of their words. The designs ended up depicting a series of mostly vacant spaces, which could be seen as the interior lives of each of these flawed storytellers.
