V&A Illustration Awards 2017: Frequently Asked Questions

When will I hear if I have been successful?
Judging begins soon after the deadline and will take place over the New Year. Shortlisted entrants will be contacted in February. Sadly, no correspondence can be entered into with unsuccessful entrants. The judges’ decision is final. If you haven’t heard anything by March 2017, assume you have been unsuccessful this time round. But please do enter again next year. Perseverance works!

How will I be contacted if shortlisted?
Correspondence is via email, so make sure your contact details are correct when you submit your entries. All shortlisted entrants will be invited to attend the Awards Ceremony in May and invitations will be sent out by post, so please make sure your postal address details are also correct.
How many entries will be shortlisted per category?
Competition is fierce! We typically receive about 1000 entries every year. Only the best 3 will be shortlisted in the each of the published categories. The best 5 student entries will be shortlisted for the student prize.
Do I need to enter supporting text to accompany my work?
You don’t need to, but it may help the judges in assessing your submission.
Can I email my entry as an attachment?
No. Entry to the V&A Illustration Awards takes place via the online entry form [link to entry form] only. Judging will also take place online.
Are my contact details visible to the judges?
No. Personal data is stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act and is only visible to staff assigned to the competition.
