From October 1st, the National Art Library will open its doors at the earlier time of 10.00. We hope that the extra hour each day will give our researchers welcome additional time with our collections. Our new hours will be 10.00 – 17.00, Tuesday to Thursday.

What will be ready on your arrival?

Each morning, we retrieve items from our stores that have been pre-ordered by 09.00 that day. We aim to get all items ready for pick up at the Library counters on opening, but unfortunately can’t guarantee it.  Sometimes it’s just not possible to get everything ready in time for opening. The number of items to collect varies each day – it can be over 300 items on a Tuesday morning, to be retrieved from a variety of stores located all over the Museum! We will always do our best, and of course, any items you have kept over from previous visits will be waiting for you.

Make the most of your time with new e-resources!

There is a plethora of online, full text, resources available for you to look at if you do have a short wait in the Library. In fact, why not try out our recent additions of the digitised back copies of Harpers and Queen, or of Country Life Magazine, both now being trialled. The titles are available to read online until the 19th of October, and the usage figures will help us to determine which is the best one to purchase on an ongoing basis.
