Last week Brighton based illustrator Amy Brown came to the V&A to run a Samsung Digital Classroom session with us looking at digital illustration and collage. Groups were set two briefs which they could choose to work on: designing a gig poster for a fictional New Year’s Eve event or creating a range of fresh birthday or greetings cards.

Amy jumped into the session by sharing some of her own work on influences and talking about her path to becoming a professional illustrator. The nitty gritty then began with a run through of using Photoshop, mocking up designs and image manipulation.
The results were fantastic and the visitors who took part blew us away with their ability to pick up new processes so quickly and with the designs they created on the day.

The next Samsung Digital Classroom workshop takes place on 30th January 2016 with Studio Hato looking at digital animation.
The Samsung Digital Classroom is a new programme for 16 – 19 year olds which offers hands on, practical workshops exploring the latest in digital art and design. You can find more of our Samsung Digital Classroom Sessions online here and follow blogs about the sessions through News from the Learning Department.
