The National Art Library recently moved to a new online library catalogue, more information can be found here. This blog series will highlight some of the new features built into the platform to give users integrated keyword searching of online content and print holdings into one search box, tracking and email notifications of item requests and much more.

Updating your Contact Preferences

Once you have fully registered with us at the National Art Library, you will be able to update your contact details and preferences for automated emails regarding item requests.

You will now see, when you are logged into your account, the following new feature:

If you cannot see this option ‘My Communication Preferences’ then you have not fully completed registration at the National Art Library. More information can be found here.

This new feature will allow you to:

  • Update the email address that you would like us to send automated emails to regarding your item requests
  • Remove your email contact so that you will no longer be contacted with automated emails regarding your item requests

How to update your email address (for automated messages)

You can enter a different email address to the one you use to log into your account, here:

You will still be required to login using your original email address, so if you need this to be changed then please speak to a library staff member in the National Art Library.

How to switch off automated emails

This is not recommended as this means that you will miss out on updates regarding the status of your item requests.

You can untick the ‘send updates by email’ option

Make sure to save changes when updating any preferences in this area of your account.

We hope you found this post useful and we will be posting more ‘new feature’ insights via this blog over the next couple of months. If you have any feedback to share concerning the design of the new library catalogue, please use the ‘Feedback’ link found at the bottom of each library catalogue webpage.

If you have a question for the National Art Library, please contact us directly, here.
