If you’ve not already made a note in your diary, here’s another quick reminder that the V&A/IHR Early Modern Material Cultures Seminars 2015 start next Wednesday 15 April.

We are delighted that Dr Jerzy Gawronski from the University of Amsterdam will be opening the new season with a paper titled, ‘The VOC-ship Amsterdam lost in 1749. Studying the material culture of Early Modern Amsterdam and the East Indies shipping network’

Organised by current V&A/RCA History of Design students, these events bring together leading scholars from a range of disciplines and approaches working on material culture between c.1450 and c.1850.

Seminars take place every Wednesday from 15 April at 5.15pm at the Institute of Historical Research with an extra session on Monday 1 June. Events are free to attend, no booking necessary, but do contact f.butcher@vam.ac.uk if you have any questions.

Directions to the IHR can be found here, with further information on Facebook and the full programme in the fabulous poster below, designed by current MA students Victoria de Lorenzo Alcantara and Francesca Butcher.
