Creating Kindness: Using design to help families thrive
Discover the design process behind this innovative homegrown social enterprise
In 2015 Jordan Butler created Togs, a clothing and equipment bank that has since provided essential aid to thousands of children in and around Dundee. Hear how she took individual action and applied real-life practical service design skills to grow this impactful project from her own home to a large-scale sustainable service.
Working with vulnerable people throughout her career, Dundee-based educator and mother of two Jordan saw the need for a new service to help local families and the professionals who support them. Recognising that many people have the desire and means to donate clothing, she designed a solution to help communities support their neighbours.
Using empathy, creative thinking and an ethos of ‘Creating Kindness’, Jordan’s approach actively counteracts ‘blame culture’ in society.
This event is part of Family Design Day: Kind Creatives and visitors of all ages are welcome to join us for kind, creative activities throughout the day.
