Through its use of time lapse and slow-motion footage of cities and natural landscapes across the United States, which has been mimicked and parodied many times since its release, Koyaanisqatsi explores the relationship between humans, nature and technology. Featuring stunning cinematography by Ron Fricke, and an exquisite original music score by the legendary American composer Philip Glass, the film is both formally daring and utterly entertaining, and best experienced on the big screen.
