Discover the remarkable stories behind our architecture and Scottish Design Galleries
This tour is a great way to experience the museum, whether visiting for the first time or keen to build on your knowledge of Scotland’s first design museum.
Exploring the outside of the building you’ll discover how pioneering technology and engineering were used to create the museum. The museum, designed by architect Kengo Kuma is the first of its kind and unique in the world.
Moving inside to the Scottish Design Galleries, home to 300 exhibits, including the fully restored Charles Rennie Mackintosh Oak Room, you’ll learn about Scotland’s design history and its international significance, from 1500 to the present day.
