Get to grips with the basics of flat pattern cutting for a skirt
Join designer Tracey Stewart for this practical 4-week online course. You will learn how to draft a basic skirt block to a set of measurements and manipulate it into a style to complete a fully finished pattern.
Each weekly online session will feature a combination of demonstrations and presentations, followed by a practical assignment to prepare for the next class. You will be able to ask questions and get expert guidance and feedback on how to improve your work.
Suitable for beginners, no experience required!
Tracey Stewart is a Masters fashion graduate from Edinburgh College of Art and has worked as a designer in London, Milan, Paris and Glasgow. Having worked extensively as a fashion lecturer, she now runs her own label and workshops from her studio in Dundee.
Materials and equipment needed to participate are listed below. It looks like a long list but don’t worry: upon enrolling you'll receive a guide on where to purchase these, including options to suit various budgets. You don’t have to spend a lot to start pattern cutting!
To take part you in the course you will need:

✂️ Cutting out shears
✂️ Dressmaker pins
✂️ HB pencil and sharpener, or mechanical pencil
✂️ Eraser
✂️ Masking tape (25mm)
✂️ Paper and pen for note-taking
