Celebrate the reopening of our Ruddock Family Cast Court following extensive renovation and conservation work. On this exclusive tour you'll be guided round the largest and most famous galleries in the V&A, by Mariam Sonntag of the V&A's Conservation department. Talking points will include the processes of mould and cast making, the convention and the network of casting workshops and collections in Europe during the 19th century, and a closer look at the tall Belgian Tabernacle. Mariam will also be sharing insights from her apprenticeship at the Gipsformerei (Plaster Cast Workshop) in Berlin and some of the historic techniques and materials she learned there.
