Course overview

We look at the history and legacy of British Musicals before the Second World War and acknowledge the incredible influence of the American Musical after the Second War. We will also explore the re-emergence of British Musicals in the 1960s and 70s. There will be a mixture of lectures, masterclasses and interviews with performers and professionals from the world of musical theatre which will give a unique insight into the pressures and pleasures of being involved in this extraordinary world of entertainment.
The course will act as a complement to the current V&A exhibition ‘Re:Imagining Musicals'.
