How does a structure go from a concept to a physical space? What is BIM and CAD and why are they important? This month, we hear from James Steers and Caleb Quaye as they discuss their careers as Civil Engineering Technician Apprentices at Arup. James has been a part of the Civil Engineering team for 2 ½ years and has gained experience working alongside industry professionals. Work as an apprentice involves collaborative design and modelling of infrastructure. Recently he has been working on a project called Wood Wharf which has involved the 3D modelling of various utility networks (shown in photo) using the BIM software Civil 3D.
