Exhibition
Japan: Myths to Manga
Supported by Toshiba
From manga-making to Taiko drumming, hands-on activities sit alongside exceptional objects and artwork from the 15th century to today, drawn from the V&A’s world-class collection and international loans. The exhibition brings together over 150 historical and contemporary objects for your students to enjoy, for free.
We welcome school and college groups to the exhibition on Mondays and Tuesdays at timeslots of 10.00 and 10.30, during term time. Bookings are free, but all groups will need to book. A teacher ticket is required for each accompanying adult. Please state the NAME OF YOUR SCHOOL in the FIRST NAME BOX of your booking.
Your class will have up to 1 hour to explore the exhibition from the beginning of your timeslot. We can welcome up to 30 students as part of each class booking. As part of your booking, we will reserve a 30-minute lunch slot in our Portal Trust Community Room for your group.
- If you book a 10.00 exhibition timeslot you will be allocated a 11.45 lunch slot.
- If you book 10.30 exhibition timeslot you will be allocated a 12.30 lunch slot.
You are welcome to explore our permanent galleries (Play, Imagine and Design) with your class before and/or after your exhibition visit.
Adult supervision is always required and must adhere our adult-to-student ratio. Please visit Young V&A: Visit Guidelines for Schools and Colleges for more information.
The V&A does not accept bookings made by third-party agencies on behalf of schools. Bookings made by third-party agencies may be cancelled for safeguarding, and health and safety reasons.
If you are a teacher and are hoping to come on a pre-visit to support with your planning, please book a separate ticket for the exhibition (using the Teacher Ticket option). This ticket can only be booked after your school booking has been confirmed, by getting in touch with the V&A Contact Centre on 020 8983 5200 or email young@vam.ac.uk.
