Course Overview

What we choose to wear has been dramatically influenced by advances in science and technology, by the expectations of ordinary men and women and by the types of people who lead fashion. We will show you how fashion has been shaped by a multitude of forces, how it became a political tool, how it was democratized and undermined and how it may have become unsustainable. You will be introduced to the work of some of the greatest couturiers and designers and you will be able to see why fashion has become what it is today - sometimes breath-takingly gorgeous and sometimes downright boring.
