With people ‘curating’ anything from playlists to phone apps, what does it mean to be a curator today? And what makes the role of curators of contemporary art and design so challenging and controversial, yet so highly acclaimed? This course will explore both theoretical and practical aspects of curating works of art, not only in public museums, but also in private collections and independent galleries.

Course Leader Dr Amy Mechowski

Amy Mechowski is Head of the Learning Academy at the V&A. Formerly Programme Leader for the Art Museums, Galleries and Curating course at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, she holds a PhD in the History of Art from UCL, was a Research Fellow at the Yale Center for British Art, and continues to publish and deliver public lectures and conference papers.

I have taken many Evening Courses at the V&A and I come away each week feeling inspired, stimulated by the facts, and wishing to know even more. 2015/15 course student
