In response to the Africa Fashion exhibition, join Monisola Omotoso for a pattern cutting session. Inspired by three elements in African fashion, the traditional Dashiki top, the lustrous hand-woven 'Top Cloth' Aso Oke and the creation of simple patterns based on using key body measurements.
Traditionally African fashion styles are cut directly from the fabric overriding the need for paper patterns. Key measurements are taken and applied to simple shapes. This course will explore pattern-making based on using key body measurements to create a pattern for a fitted T-shaped top loosely inspired by the traditional top, the Dashiki.
This session will be held live on Microsoft Teams and will also be recorded. The recording will be emailed to participants after the live event, and will be accessible until Midnight GMT on Sunday 19th February 2023. Please note: Materials are not included, a list of readily available materials will be sent to you in advance of the session, and are uploaded to this webpage under the 'Programme' button.
