Toy Generator: Card Game Workshop
Monday 13 – Friday 17 February

Join artist Amy Brown to become a toy designer, through playing a collaborative game with your family. You will make and play a card game, which will give you a design brief to come up with a fun brand new toy to add to the Museum’s display.

The Museum Board Game
Monday 13 – Wednesday 15 February

£7 per child, Age 5+

Design and create your own board game, with artist Helen Rousseau, to play at the Museum or at home. Choose characters and locations from the wonderful and quirky collection, make game pieces with collage materials, and design the board like your own version of the Museum map.

The Lost Room

The Lost Room by Art Of Disappearing is a unique immersive experience for two people, for ages 8-100 years or more! Once every hour, two intrepid adventures put on headphones and enter a private interactive world. Get ready for a wonderful adventure through a curious landscape where your imagination takes flights…

Checkmate! Interactive Tour for Families
Saturday 11 February, Tuesday 14 – Thursday 16 February

The White Queen has gone missing from a chess set in the exhibition, Game Plan… You are one of the game pieces on a mission (yes, you will actually dress up) to find her hiding somewhere in the Museum. Take the challenge, solve the mystery, and visit some of the Museum’s fascinating objects for clues. An experiential and fun theatrical tour.

Magical Games Worlds Workshop
Thursday 16 and Friday 17 February

Design your own game character with unique special powers and moves, and make it come to life by moulding it into a sculpture with the help of artist Laura X Carle. Take your new character into alternate worlds to play with family, friends and people you’ve just met!

Workshops booking information:

  • Children need to be accompanied by adults during the workshop. At least 1 adult per 4 children, but no more than 1 adult per 1 child.
  • Please note that we cannot accommodate younger children without tickets in the workshop room.
  • The Lost Room:This experience may last up to 45minutes. You will be required to wear hands free headphones and will be left alone to explore this space with a companion. You will be asked to concentrate, have an open mind and be willing to work at creating your own collaborative experience.The Lost Room is for adults and children alike. It is for ages 8+ due to the content and concentration of the experience.Any person under the age of 18yrs must be accompanied by a responsible adult in response to the partnering format of this work.
