The Argentinian designer Sibilia treats conventional materials like copper and brass in unconventional ways. 

Appearing partially distressed, the finish appears to owe more to nature than design. Yet as with many of Sibilia’s pieces, the simplicity is deceptive, and each piece – made entirely by hand – takes up to one week to complete and involves a range of complex design processes, from hand-painting to patination. 

Working abstract, forest green pendants, which are painted by hand, these earrings include surgical steel posts and butterfly fastenings.

About the designer
Sibilia

Sibilia

The influence of Latin American decorative art and visual culture is evident, though never literal, in the work of Argentinian designer Fernanda Sibilia. Pieces are infused with both mid-century modern and Pre-Columbian inspiration.

Research and experimentation come together in her Buenos Aires studio, where she manipulates bronze, copper and alpaca (a silver-coloured alloy), creating bold colours and textures through patination.
