Richard Brendon has selected four of his favourite patterns from the museum’s vast archives to reimagine with playful and whimsical twists. This exquisite bone china cup and saucer takes inspiration from English porcelain designs from the late 18th and early 19th century, which were in turn influenced by Japanese Imari porcelain. The decorative floral designs of the era have been reimagined here as dragons, adding a mythical eastern flair. When the reflective cup is placed onto the patterned antique saucer, it perfectly mirrors the design below, making it appear as though the pair have always belonged together.

Bridging the gap between traditional and contemporary design, Richard Brendon design and produce distinctive yet functional bone china with a recognisable flair. Each piece is made by master craftspeople in the potteries of Stoke-on-Trent, benefiting from the town’s generations of knowledge and experience while supporting heritage British industry.
