This series contains papers relating to a number of different subjects. Firstly it contains those relating to the administration and policy of the Film, Video and Broadcasting Department, such as the minutes and papers of the various Advisory Panels and Committees serviced by the department, general financial information, policy files, papers relating to dealings with other Arts Councildepartments and cross-departmental initiatives.
Secondly it contains reports and papers relating to conferences, enquiries, publications and research on film and other arts affairs. Finally it contains miscellaneous material, such as correspondence and printed ephemera, that was kept for informational purposes.
Until 1986 the Council's activities in film were managed by the Visual Arts Department and when responsibility for film was transfered to the newFilm, Video and Broadcasting Department not all the early papers relating to film were handed over. Therefore papers relating to film can still be found amongst the Visual Arts Department's papers. See ACGB/32 for such papers relating to policy and information.

Access to unpublished material less than 30 years old is subject to the written permission of the Arts Council of England. Apply in the first instance to the Archive of Art and Design at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
