Opening a decorative mopa mopa cabinet: ASMR

Join Conservator Dana Melchar as she gently opens the drawers of a special 17th-century Colombian cabinet.

ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response – a pleasant tingling sensation beginning on the scalp and moving down the neck, which is triggered by a delicate or satisfying auditory or visual experience.

Made from a rare plant resin called mopa mopa, the box has been uniquely decorated with animals and plants, wrapping around the entire surface. Watch and listen as Dana picks out the details, whilst telling about the extensive conservation work that this box has undergone.
