William Shakespeare was born 450 years ago on 23 April 1564. To celebrate the V&A asked you to design, make and decorate a cake inspired by the Bard, then upload your entries to Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #Cakespeare. Many thanks to all of those that participated we had some amazing entries. We are very happy to announce that the winner, as chosen by master baker Jane Asher, is Meriel @aislesofwonder for her impressive 450th birthday sleepover cake.

A gift in your will

You may not have thought of including a gift to a museum in your will, but the V&A is a charity and legacies form an important source of funding for our work. It is not just the great collectors and the wealthy who leave legacies to the V&A. Legacies of all sizes, large and small, make a real difference to what we can do and your support can help ensure that future generations enjoy the V&A as much as you have.
