Orchestral score for 'Nadia' by Georges Jacobi

The opening pages of the composer's manuscript orchestral score for the ballet, Nadia. Using this, the composer, Georges Jacobi would personally have conducted the large house orchestra at the Alhambra which was acclaimed as the finest theatre orchestra in London.

Called Divertissement Russe because of the ballet's colourful Russian setting and folk dances in the first scene, the final title Nadia was chosen late in the creative process. Jacobi's score is dated January 1887 suggesting a period of three and a half months for the choreographer, Joseph Hansen, to devise the steps and groupings to the music before the premiere. Annotations on the synopsis indicate cast changes during the ballet's seven-month run.
