Event - The Italian Embassy

Tue 19 January 2016 11:00–12:00

The Italian Embassy at 4 Grosvenor Square is a fascinating place to visit, both for its art collection and for the history of the beautiful building in which it is housed. Built in 1728 and residence of the Italian Ambassador to the Court of St James’s since 1934, it is home to a superb collection of masterpieces, including two paintings by Alessandro Magnasco, some superb Tuscan and Flemish tapestries and an imposing marble table which is one of the finest examples to be seen in London of the commissione di pietre dure, a technique of cutting and inlaying marbles and rare stones.
