This eight-week course explores Humanist Photography – a mid-20th century style of documentary photography concerned with everyday life and people. Popular in France and the US but also reaching further afield, Humanist Photography changed our relationship with news and how we see the everyday. You will visit and use the new V&A Photography Centre for inspiration. Through discussions, presentations, print-room visits and practical tasks, discover some of the photographers who were part of this movement – including: Robert Doisneau, Bresson, Dorothea Lange, Lee Miller, Diane Arbus, Vivian Maier and more. Led by Grace Gelder.
Please note all sessions will be held in the Digital Studio, Sackler Centre unless stated otherwise.

Please bring your own DSLR camera. Part of the V&A Photography Spotlight
