Photographs: albumen-silver prints from wet collodion negatives
In 1863 Rossetti invited the professional London photographer J. R. Parsons to take photographs of Jane Morris in his garden at Cheyne Walk, Chelsea. The compositions were arranged by Rossetti himself. George Bottomley, who assembled this album, wrote that 'these prints are in essence original compositions by Rossetti and the proportion of the figure to the space is an important part of his intention.'
